Many women share that when pregnant, their sense of smell becomes more difficult and when smelling anything strange such as perfume, cigarette smoke, gasoline, food … can make them nauseous. . According to the researchers, there is a link between olfaction and the sex hormone estrogen in women. When estrogen levels rise during the first trimester, the sense of smell is also more susceptible to foreign smells and this explains why pregnant women vomit when they smell strange smells.
Changes in the digestive tract:
Changes in the digestive system during pregnancy can worsen morning sickness symptoms. During early pregnancy, progesterone levels increase significantly in the uterus to support embryonic development. Therefore, the level of progesterone in the stomach, intestines and esophagus also increases, causing gastrointestinal delay and accumulation of food in the stomach leading to irritability, nausea, and vomiting.
You can limit nausea, vomiting, and morning sickness in the following ways:
Eat less food and divide into several meals a day.
– Stay away from foods that irritate stomach such as fats, fried foods, bad smelling foods.
– Eating foods containing ginger also reduces vomiting.
– Drink a lot of water.
– Exercise regularly.
– Eat dry foods: bread, biscuits.
